Frederik Backaert (born March 13, 1990 in Gent ) is a Belgian racing cyclist .
Career
Backaert drove at the end of the 2012 season for the Professional Continental Team as Landbouwkrediet-Euphony as Stagiaire , but did not receive a regular contract for the following year. For the 2014 season he joined the Wanty-Groupe Gobert team. In his second year with this team, he finished in two stage races in the hors categorie top places in the overall standings: He was fourth of the Four Days of Dunkirk and tenth of the Tour of Belgium . On the final stage of the Tour of Austria 2016 , he achieved his first victory in a race on the international calendar. He contested his first Grand Tour with the Tour de France 2017 and finished this tour in 132nd place.
