Frederik van Heilo
Frederik van Heilo (also Friedrich von Heilo or Fridericus de Heilo ; * around 1400 in Heiloo ; † October 11, 1455 in Haarlem ) was a monk and writer .
Life
Frederik van Heilo's early life is largely in the dark. It is believed that his writing was influenced by the Geert Groote school . He initially worked as Donatus in the monastery of the Windesheim Canons of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary near Haarlem. After his ordination , he became a confessor in the monasteries of Warmond , Leiden and Beverwijk . He later retired in Haarlem.
On a tour of the Netherlands in 1451, Frederik van Heilo met Cardinal Nikolaus von Kues with whom he subsequently exchanged letters.
