Fredy Scheim

Fredy Scheim (born December 26, 1892 in Biel as Ferdinand Scheim,December 5, 1957 in Zurich ) was a Swiss actor .

Career

Fredy Scheim was the son of the printer Gottfried Ludwig Scheim and Rosina Lüdi. He completed an apprenticeship as a construction technician in an architecture office, then had various positions. He started out as an entertainer in Basel and successfully traveled to countless village bars. He formed a successful duo on stage with Freddy Schulz and later with Rudolf Bernhard . With his own theater he appeared in revues, operettas and antics until his death. In addition, records were also made.

Scheim made his film debut in 1930 in the first Swiss sound film Bünzli's Big City Experiences . Other dialect films followed by 1944, most of which he wrote the scripts himself. The film Schaggi the vagabond or Das Glück auf der Landstrasse had to be canceled in 1939 for lack of money. The restored version of the existing film material was shown for the first time in Locarno in 2000 . Unused documentary footage was recorded in a special train - Chum lueg d'Heimet a! combined with play scenes around Fredy Scheim and Rudolf Bernhard . His film De Chegelkönig was shown in Germany and Austria in 1953. Rudolf Bernhard, Max Knapp , Hermann Gallinger and Willy Ackermann played in this .

Despite some film success, its popularity declined after the war. Scheim did not receive film offers again until the 1950s. The producer Félix Beaujon hired him for the German version of The Secret of the Mountain Lake and S'Waisechind vo Engelberg . Even Franz Schnyder and Kurt breakfast put him in supporting roles. He made an appearance in 1957 in the advertising film Dream and Reality . In the film Glück mues me ha he played a leading role for the first time based on his own model.

Fredy Scheim was married to Maria Elisa Gasser. He died unexpectedly of heart failure; He found his final resting place in the Hönggerberg cemetery .
