Freek de Jonge

Frederik Jan Georg (Freek) de Jonge (born August 30, 1944 in Westernieland , De Marne municipality , Netherlands) is a Dutch comedian . He has been one of the best-known in his field since the 1970s; his often political solo programs are characterized by both sagacity and brutality.

Freek de Jonge is the son of a Calvinist preacher and grew up near Zaandam . At the age of 11 he was on stage for the first time. He studied cultural anthropology in Amsterdam and met Bram Vermeulen , with whom he founded the group Neerlands Hoop (Hope of the Netherlands). 1980 started his solo career.

Among other things, his Oudejaarsconferences (New Year's Eve programs ), with which he continues a tradition of the old master Wim Kan, are famous . He has also published books, appeared in film and television, and won numerous awards. The song Er is leven na de dood (1997), which became known in Germany through the Bläck Fööss , brought him a great sales success (with Robert Jan Stips and his band) . The original comes from Bob Dylan . Another successful song is Heer heb meelij met de Belgen .

The politically left-wing de Jonge presents intelligent, artfully composed programs and does not shy away from the grossly vulgar, obscene and politically offensive. Usually a program has a motto that serves as a red thread.

De Jonge is married to Hella de Jonge and has two children.
