Freestyle (TV show)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Freestyle was a music television show produced by VIVA from 1993 to 1995 , which dealt with the three elements of hip-hop culture - music , graffiti and breakdancing . The show was hosted by Scope ( MC at STF ), Torch (1993-1994), Schiffmeister (MC at Fettes Brot ) and Storm (breakdancer). DJ Stylewarz was engaged as a permanent studio DJ . The fixed broadcast date was always Monday evening.

Representatives of the then still young German hip-hop scene appeared regularly on the show. In addition, there were reports and appearances by US and other representatives of hip-hop culture. In addition to interviews and music videos , live performances, freestyles , dance performances, DJ competitions, event announcements and the presentation of print magazines on hip-hop culture were an integral part of the program. The presentation of new records was partly recorded in record shops and moderated by the operators of the shops. During the broadcast, the studio walls were worked on by graffiti artists.

The show was produced and developed by Christoph Dreher and Rolf S. Wolkenstein (Turner & Tailor).

In 1996 the format was replaced by Word Cup with Tyron Ricketts .
