Free Voters Main-Kinzig-Kreis (officially: Free Voters Main-Kinzig, FW ) is a group of voters active in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis in the legal form of a registered association . Formally it is independent from the district association of the party FDP and the local constituencies in the district, but there are close personal ties and similarities of political orientation.

Alignment

According to their statutes, the Free Voters Main-Kinzig-Kreis have specified participation in the district council elections with their own nominations as their purpose. They see themselves as representing the interests of the electoral groups active in the municipalities of the district . In its external presentation, the electoral group attaches particular importance to its political independence and its sole focus on the interests of the citizens. The strengthening of citizen participation is accordingly very important to them.

The Free Voters in Main-Kinzig name the strengthening of the municipalities and rural areas, the commitment to the social market economy , the promotion of the energy transition , the improvement of internal security and the support of families as their political guidelines .

organization

Membership in the association can only be made by those who are at least 16 years old, reside in the Main-Kinzig district, do not belong to any political party and are committed to the Basic Law and the Hessian constitution .

The Free Voters Main-Kinzig are members of the Hessian state association of municipal voter groups Free Voters - FWG Hessen e. V .

history

The Free Voters Main-Kinzig were founded on December 18, 1992 as the Free Voting Community Main-Kinzig-Kreis in Niederrodenbach and have since taken part in the elections for the district council in the Main-Kinzig district. As a result of the abolition of the threshold clause , they were able to move into the district council for the first time in 2001, in which they have since been represented.

In the election period between 2011 and 2016, they formed a coalition with the SPD and the Greens and appointed a district councilor . After the 2016 district election, a member of the parliamentary group elected for the electoral group resigned .
