Free reason

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Free reason is the name of a region in the Siegerland . The free reason consists in the lower free reason of the places of the community Neunkirchen as well as from the adjoining Herdorf and in the opposite direction Wilden , which belongs to Wilnsdorf and lies on the edge of the area. The villages of Burbach , Gilsbach , Wahlbach and Würgendorf belong to the Upper Free Ground . To the south, the Hickengrund borders with the rest of the villages in the Burbach community.

The first documented mention was the area in a boundary determination deed dated 28 April 1048, in which it as praedium virorum liberorum ( latin ; German: "field of free men") was called. The inhabitants of the area were directly under the protection of the emperor, whose jurisdiction was exercised by the Count Palatine near Rhine . A copy of the document is posted in the entrance area of the town hall of Neunkirchen. The first actual mention of the words "Free Ground" took place in 1566.

Until the start of the North Rhine-Westphalian regional reform in 1969, the previously independent villages of Freie Grund and Hickengrund were administered by the Burbach Office. In addition, the Neunkirchen office had existed since 1815 , which was dissolved in 1844 and incorporated into the Burbach office together with the mayor of Dresselnorf .

Natural allocation

The populated areas of the Freie Grund coincide almost exactly with the natural area of the Middle Hellertal, the Heller and the Wildebach . The higher, unpopulated areas are in the northern and southern Hellerbergland and, in the east, in the Kalteiche massif .
