Gutenbach in Salchendorf

The Wildebach (also Wildenbach ) is an 11.7 km long brook near Wilden in the southern Siegerland in North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

course

The Wildebach rises in the valley between the Kalteiche mountains (height: 579.3  m ) and the 468.7  m high Wildenberg to the west at an altitude of approx. 538  m . From there it flows down the valley around the Wildenberg into the southern end of the Landeskroner Weiher . A dam at the northern end dams the water in the pond. There the stream flows out and past the industrial area Landeskrone . Between Mittel- and Oberwilden it flows into the village and through the Wildebachtal around the heights of the Bautenberg and out into Unterwilden . It flows through Salchendorf next to railroad tracks to the SSI Schäfer company , under the company premises in a pipe. In the center of Neunkirchen the Wildebach flows into the Heller , which comes from the direction of Zeppenfeld , at an altitude of approx. 257  m .

Tributaries

The first major tributary, the Wiebelhäuser Bach, rises south of the Kalteiche and flows into the Wildebach after about 4 km. Another larger tributary stream, the Kleine Wildenbach, rises between Wilnsdorf and the Autobahn 45 , flows underneath and flows into Oberwilden im Wildebach. The Gutenbach , which flows into the Wildebach at the beginning of the village, runs from the Kleiner Rausche (northwest of Wilden) to Salchendorf . The ascertainable tributaries or tributaries are:

Wildenbachtal nature reserve

Wildebach valley

The Wildenbachtal protected area was established in 1990 and extends through the entire valley between the towns of Wilden and Salchendorf over a length of approx. 1.8 km. The reserve has a size of approx. 20 hectares, 15 hectares of which belong to the municipality of Neunkirchen. The area extends on both sides to the edge of the forest, the widest point is approx. 350 m wide, the narrowest is approx. 25 m wide. The area is at an altitude between 300 and 330  m .

The meadows are natural and swampy, the stream flows in its natural bed. Most of the forests on the edge consist of economical spruce plantations.

history

The Wildebach regularly overflows its banks due to a lot of rain or snowmelt , mostly meadows are flooded. In November 1890 it was particularly bad because it had been raining for days and the dam of the Landeskroner Weiher could not withstand the pressure and gave way. The wild fields and meadows were almost completely laid out on the stream, which devastated them and destroyed the winter harvest. Farmhouses, sheds and stables were destroyed and swept away. Today houses and streets are higher than the stream due to the earth filling.
