The Walkersdorfer Berg is 526  m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Rothaargebirge . It is located near Gilsbach in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district of North Rhine-Westphalia . After the 527.7 m high Simberg, it is the second highest elevation within the village boundary  .

Walkersdorfer Berg, located in the southern part of the Rothaargebirge in the municipality of Burbach between its district Gilsbach in the south-southwest, Wilnsdorf in the north-northeast and its district Wilden in the north-west, belongs to the Kalteiche massif ( 579.3  m ). To the north-northeast the landscape leads through the valley of the Wildebach ( Wildenbach ) with the Landeskroner Weiher there to the Wildenberg ( 469.1  m ), to the northeast through that of the Wildebach tributary Wiebelhäuser Bach and over the Löhrsberg ( 561.6  m ) to the Kalteiche and to the east-southeast past the Holzholzer Kopf ( 542.9  m ) to Donnerhain ( 560.7  m ). To the south-south-west it leads past the Hude ( 522  m ) to the Simberg, to the west-south-west the Steimel ( 489.7  m ) and northwest the Bautenberg ( Baudenberg ; 512.9  m ) join. On the southern slope of the Walkersdorfer Berg, the Gilsbach rises , on the western slope, viewed from the mountain top, beyond a sports field, the source of the Bahlenbachseifen ( Bahlenbach's Seifen ), a tributary of the Volkersbach, rises .

Natural allocation

The Walkersdorfer Berg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Dill-Lahn-Eder source area (333.0) to the natural area Kalteiche (with Haincher Höhe) (333.00) , whereby a corner of the natural area Mittleres Hellertal (331.31) adjoins directly south-southwest in the main unit Siegerland (331) and in the subunit Hellerbergland (331.3) .

Protected areas

On the southwest flank of the Walkersdorfer Berg lies the nature reserve Sehmbach source area (CDDA No. 319105; designated 2002; 8  hectares in size). The mountain is located in the Landeskroner Weiher landscape protection area , Wiebelhausen ( CDDA no. 322403; 1991; 8 km²).

Traffic and transmission system

State road  723 , which reaches a maximum height of 483  m , leads west past Walkersdorfer Berg as a connecting road from Gilsbach to Wilden. The federal motorway 45 ( Sauerland line ) runs northeast . The elevation itself can be reached on forest trails and paths. In the east of the summit region there is a transmission mast / tower near a 520.3  m high point .
