The Donnerhain is 560.7  m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Rothaargebirge . It is located near Würgendorf in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district of North Rhine-Westphalia .

The Donnerhain, located in the southern part of the Rothaargebirge in the municipality of Burbach, north of the Würgendorf district and its Wasserscheide location , belongs to the Kalteiche massif . It is the second highest elevation in the Würgendorf district. The source area of ​​the Heller is located on its eastern slope, which belongs to the Lahn-Dill-Bergland Nature Park . The western branch of the wooded mountain is the Holzholzer Kopf ( 542.9  m ) and its southern branch the Stein ( 555.9  m ). At the joint southern flank of thunder grove and wood Holzer head of the springs Bach soaps which opens at Würgendorf in the Heller, and at their joint northern flank of Gretenbach which the Wiebelhäuser Bach flows.

Natural allocation

The Donnerhain belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) and in the subunit Dill-Lahn-Eder source area (333.0) to the natural area Kalteiche (with Haincher Höhe) (333.00).

Mountain height

The Donnerhain is 560.7 m high in the context of its southeastern knoll  . From there a 558.3  m high point leads over to the north-west summit , which, according to the top contour line visible on the German basemap, is about 559  m high; a few meters east-north-east and west-south-west of the highest point of this knoll is a trigonometric point at 558.8  m and 557.7  m height. The hill connects to this knoll in the northwest .

Infrastructure

The federal motorway 45 leads north and east past Donnerhain ; Bundesstraße 54 runs parallel to this in the east . Its plateau is inaccessible to the public as it is used by Dynamit Nobel AG for blasting work.

High

About 530 m north-west of the mountain summit is the hill ( 557.2  m ) as a wooded knoll of Donnerhain , to which a 553.1  m high notch leads. Parts of the Landeskroner Weiher , Wiebelhausen landscape protection area ( CDDA no. 555558593), which was designated in 1974 and is 7.9959 km² in size, extend up to its western and northern flanks .
