The Frente Amplio Progresista (abbreviated FAP , German translation: Broad Progressive Front ) is an Argentine party alliance that was founded in June 2011. It can be assigned to the center-left spectrum and sees itself as a platform for opposition to the currently (2012) governing Frente para la Victoria and the Partido Justicialista (PJ).

In the 2011 presidential elections , the candidate from Allianz Hermes Binner took second place with 16.8%, albeit a long way from the election winner Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (FPV / PJ ), who obtained an absolute majority.

Members

The member parties of the FAP have in common that they are each strongly represented in certain regions of the country, but have little influence at the national level.

history

The founding of the FAP was preceded by the dissolution of the party alliance Acuerdo Cívico y Social , which was founded on the occasion of the parliamentary elections in 2009, and the Unión Cívica Radical , the Partido Socialista and the Alliance Coalición Cívica , which includes the Coalición Cívica ARI , GEN and Unidad Popular and others Parties belonged, included. After the CC-ARI left in 2010, the UCR negotiated a new alliance with the remaining parties, but this finally failed in mid-2011 when the UCR candidate Ricardo Alfonsín announced his collaboration with the right-wing peronist Francisco de Narváez .

The Partido Socialista, which is the only provincial government ( Province of Santa Fe ), announced on June 26, 2011 the establishment of the Frente Amplio Progresista . Originally, the alliance should also include the left-wing party Proyecto Sur , which is strong in the city of Buenos Aires . Due to differences in the list positions, Proyecto Sur ran separately for the 2011 election.

Before the election, the deputies and senators of the member parties formed an Interbloque (for example: parliamentary group ), and a member of the Coalición Cívica, Sebastián Cinquerrui, joined them. Since the 2011 election in the House of Representatives, the bloc has been the third strongest force behind the FPV and the UCR with 23 representatives.
