The Freudenbach , also Freudenbaek , is a right tributary of the Stepenitz . The 17.8 kilometer long stream has its source in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , but the majority extends in the Prignitz district of Brandenburg .

course

The Freudenbach rises on the southern slope of the Ruhner Mountains near the Ruhn desert . As far as the Mecklenburg-Brandenburg border, it runs roughly in a southerly direction. From the border, the course of the Freudenbach is interrupted for about a kilometer or canalised underground - the old course is still marked by the municipal boundary between Berge and Putlitz and can be seen in aerial photographs in the vegetation.

On the county road between Muggerkuhl and Neu Sagast , the Freudenbach reappears at about 72 m above sea level. In a south-easterly direction it passes Hülsebeck (municipality of Pirow ). At 54.4 m there is a branch from the Schlatbach from the right . From this point on, the Freudenbach stream is part of the Stepenitz nature reserve . Up to its mouth, 1.4 kilometers west of Tacken and south of Lockstädt , the stream continues to flow in a south-easterly direction. It forms the south-western boundary of the town of Putlitz.
