geography

The community is located on the southern foothills of the Ruhner Mountains on the border with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The Schlatbach rises at the eastern border of the municipality, flows south and flows into the Stepenitz at Perleberg .

history

Groß Berge and Klein Berge have belonged to the Westprignitz district in the province of Brandenburg since 1817 . They were merged in 1938 to form the Berge community. From 1952, Berge was in the Perleberg district in the GDR district of Schwerin . Since 1993 the community has belonged to the Brandenburg district of Prignitz.

In 1971 Neuhausen, 1972 Kleeste and 1973 Grenzheim were incorporated. On August 1, 1992, the districts of Pampin and Platschow moved to the municipality of Ziegendorf in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The Neuhausen Castle is an attractive manor house in the community.

Economy and Infrastructure

Berge lies on the national road L 10 according to Perleberg and L 104 to Putlitz .

The Berge (Prign) train station and the Neuhausen stop were on the Westprignitzer Kreisringbahn , which was closed in 1975. On the Berge – Putlitz railway with the Berge (Prign) train station and the Grenzheim and Muggerkuhl stops , traffic ceased in 1968.
