geography

The Kümmernitz , one of the tributaries of the Dömnitz, flows through Gerdshagen . By damming this stream, the Preddöhl reservoir was created between the communities of Gerdshagen and Preddöhl in the 1990s .

history

Gerdshagen belonged to the Ostprignitz district in the province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Pritzwalk district in the GDR district of Potsdam from 1952 . The community has been in the Brandenburg district of Prignitz since 1993.

In 1925 Giesenhagen and in 1974 Rapshagen were incorporated into Gerdshagen.

With the second ordinance on the abolition of exclaves in the state of Brandenburg on July 1, 2000, the Struck district, which had previously belonged to Meyenburg , and the Schwarze Kampe district, which belonged to Halenbeck, were incorporated into Gerdshagen.

Gerdshagen is on the federal highway 103 between Meyenburg and Pritzwalk . The federal motorway 24 Berlin-Hamburg with the Meyenburg junction runs through the municipality.

The nearest train station is Bruges (Prign) on the Neustadt – Meyenburg railway line . It is served by the regional train line RB 74 Pritzwalk –Meyenburg.
