history

Buckow, Grabow and Preddöhl belonged to the Ostprignitz district in the province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Pritzwalk district in the GDR district of Potsdam from 1952 . Since 1993 the places have been in the Brandenburg district of Prignitz.

Today's community was created on December 31, 2001 from the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent communities Grabow-Buckow and Preddöhl.

Grabow

The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1488. The church, built in 1860, is a neo-Gothic field stone building. On August 18, 1962, the places Grabow and Buckow were combined to form the municipality Grabow-Buckow . In 1961 a stone ax from the Stone Age was found in a field in Grabow and urns were found a year later while a road was being built. Thus an early settlement of the district has been proven.

Preddöhl

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1318 as "Predule" and originated as an anger village . Traces of a former castle were found on a homestead.
