Fridolin Roth

Fridolin Roth (born March 6, 1839 in Breitenbach ; † February 16, 1920 there , Catholic , entitled to live in Breitenbach) was a Swiss politician ( Catholic Conservative ).

Life

Fridolin Roth was born on March 16, 1839 in Breitenbach, the son of the farmer and chief magistrate Josef Roth and Maria Elisabeth, born Spaar. Between 1858 and 1861, Roth studied law in Bern and Heidelberg . In 1866, Roth graduated as a lawyer and notary.

As a result, he was from 1871 to 1896 as official scribe busy. Subsequently, Roth worked as Oberamtmann von Dorneck-Thierstein until 1917 . In addition, he was a member of the bank council of the Solothurner Kantonalbank from 1886 to 1920 .

He was married to Juliana, the daughter of the farmer and Cantonal Councilor Johann Dietler. Fridolin Roth died on February 16, 1920, three weeks before he would have turned 81 in Breitenbach.

Political career

Fridolin Roth served as a cantonal councilor from 1869 to 1871 . In addition, he took a seat in the National Council from 1888 to 1890 , to which he was elected as the first Catholic-Conservative member of the canton of Solothurn . In addition, in 1886 he was the first conservative politician to be elected to the government council by the cantonal council . As a result of the Solothurn bank crash of 1886 , the Liberals , who had previously ruled alone, had given the conservatives a seat. However, Fridolin Roth waived this seat.
