history

Frieda as a BUGA ferry

The motor ferry Frieda was built in 1986 in the Laubegast shipyard in Dresden . Her name at that time was Niederpoyritz . The first owner of the ship was the VEB Verkehrsbetriebe der Stadt Dresden . The Niederpoyritz was the last of a nine-ship series of new ships of the Scharfenberg type . The ships of this series varied, for example, in terms of engines and toilets. The model ship of the series was the Silberpfeil ferry motor ship , which was used in the community of Scharfenberg . The Niederpoyritz was used on various ferry connections in the city of Dresden across the Elbe. In October 2012 the Niederpoyritz was sold together with the Pillnitz to the Nordstern shipping company. In Brandenburg the ship was renamed Frieda .

Since 2013, the Frieda has been used on various occasions as a passenger ship or ferry. In the 2014 season, it was used on the ferry connection between the Salzhof, located in downtown Brandenburg, and the excursion destinations Buhnenhaus and Malge . For the 2015 Federal Horticultural Show in Brandenburg, it was used as a so-called BUGA ferry alongside the ships Pusteblume , Fleißiges Lieschen and Klatschmohn for shuttle transport on the Havel from the central parking lot on Wiesenweg west of Neustadt to the Packhof and Salzhof banks at the St. Johannis Church . The ferry line with its three stations had a total length of about one kilometer.
