Friedbert Ficker
Friedbert Ficker (born September 5, 1927 in Arnoldsgrün ; † January 10, 2007 in Jena ) was a German art historian .
From 1944 he attended the art school in Plauen and from 1948 the applied arts school in Leipzig, where he also studied art history at the university. In 1953 Ficker was excluded from university studies in the GDR and went to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1957. There he continued his studies in Munich, but did not obtain a university degree. In Munich he had lectureships at the Academy for the Graphic Arts, the Master School for the German Painting and the Art Academy. In 1966 he received the title of Princely Liechtenstein Professor.
His research focus was the art history of the countries of Southeast Europe . He was a member of the Leibniz Society , Academia Scientiarum et Artium Europaea , the Upper Lusatian Society of Sciences and the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts .
The Friedbert Ficker Collection has belonged to the Zwickau Art Collections since 1996. It comprises 10,000 sheets on art from the 16th to 20th centuries, which have been collected over decades.
