Hannover 96, 1956 to 1964

In the reds of Hanover 96, the newcomer from Mönchengladbach completed all 30 league games in the 1956/57 season and scored three goals. Schicks made his debut in the Oberliga Nord on August 19, 1956 in a 5-1 home win against VfL Wolfsburg. He played on the half left at the side of center forward Hans Tkotz and right winger Heinz Wewetzer . At the end of the round, the team of coach Helmut Kronsbein came in third behind series champion Hamburger SV and runner-up Holstein Kiel.
