Friedemann Johannes Wieland (* 1969 in Riedlingen ) is a German organist and cantor .

Life

Wieland studied church music from 1991 to 1995 at the University of Church Music in Esslingen am Neckar . From 1995 to 1996 he was assistant to the regional church music director of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg Siegfried Bauer . From 1997 to 1999 he took a postgraduate course in church music at the Lübeck State Music Academy , where he was a student of Hartmut Rohmeyer (organ) and Hans Darmstadt (composition). Conducting studies and participation in master classes took place with Helmuth Rilling , Friederike Woebcken, Eric Ericson and Hermann Max .

Career

From 1998 to 2000 Wieland was choir director of the Eutin Festival and from 2000 to 2001 EXPO cantor at the city ​​church of Celle . He then worked as a church musician at St. Michaelis in Wolfsburg - Fallersleben and from 2001 to 2009 as district cantor at St. Marien Rendsburg . During the same period from 2004 to 2009 he was also the first chairman of the North Elbian Church Choir Association .

Wieland has been principal organist and cantor at Ulm Minster since 2010 .
