The left mountain is the Monte Castello, on the left flank of which lies the peace bivouac above the scree field.

The Peace Bivouac ( Italian Bivacco della Pace ) at the foot of Monte Castello is an unmanaged bivouac box in a simple wooden construction. Right next to it you can still see the disintegrated Austro-Hungarian positions of the First World War . Can from the back of Monte Castello (a few meters) you Marmolada , Sella group and the directly adjacent Tofane admire.

history

Originally the hut was a barrack from the First World War, which was expanded into Capanna Monte Castello by the hut owner of the Faneshütte and like-minded people . After the hut was destroyed by arson in 1962, the hut was replaced by the Bivacco della Pace (peace bivouac) in 1974 .

Approach

From the Fanesalm (2102 m) via the small Fanesalm, 790 m, 2:30 h (also possible as a ski tour).
