Frieder Günther
Frieder Günther (born April 12, 1971 ) is a German modern historian .
Life
Günther studied modern history , public law and modern German literature at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (MA) and the University of Grenoble . In 1999 he worked at the DFG- funded Collaborative Research Center 437 “War Experiences. War and Society in Modern Times ”. From 2000 to 2002 he received a scholarship from the Cusanuswerk for gifted students . From 2002 to 2005 Günther was a research associate at the Federal President-Theodor-Heuss-Haus foundation in Stuttgart and in 2003 he started with Anselm Doering-Manteuffel at the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen with the dissertation Thinking from the State. The Federal German constitutional law theory between decision and integration 1949-1970 to the Dr. phil. PhD. His work received a printing grant from the Zeit Foundation in 2003 and was selected as one of the five books of the year by the NJW trade journal in 2004. From 2005 to 2007 he was the editor of Edition Theodor Heuss. Stuttgart edition . With a Feodor Lynen Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation , he was a Post Doc in the Department of History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008 . Afterwards he was again a research assistant in Stuttgart. In 2013/14 he was a visiting lecturer at the University of California, Davis and in 2014 a visiting researcher at the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB).
Günther is currently a research fellow at the Institute for Contemporary History (IfZ) in Berlin. His main research interests include a. the history of science and law , the history of political ideas and biography research . He published u. a. in the quarterly books for contemporary history and in the yearbook for research on liberalism .
