Anselm Doering-Manteuffel

Anselm Doering-Manteuffel (born January 19, 1949 in Krefeld ) is a German historian .

Life

Doering-Manteuffel studied from 1969 at the Philipps University of Marburg , where he passed the state examination in 1975, and at the Free University of Berlin . From 1978 to 1983 he worked as a research assistant to Ernst Nolte at the Friedrich Meinecke Institute at the Free University of Berlin, where he received his doctorate in 1980 on the subject of the attitude of German Catholics towards the military issue 1948–1955 . In 1986 he completed his habilitation with Michael Stürmer at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg on the subject of England, the German question and the European system of power 1815–1856 .

In 1988 the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg appointed him Professor of Modern History. From 1991 he was - as the successor to Gerhard Schulz - professor of modern history with special consideration of contemporary history and director of the seminar for contemporary history at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . He retired in 2016.

Anselm Doering-Manteuffel is married to the ethnologist Sabine Doering-Manteuffel .
