Frieder Steuer

Frieder Steuer (born December 1, 1950 ) is a former German football player who was active in the 1970s for BSG Stahl Riesa in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

Frieder Steuer played in the TSG Gröditz junior team until 1968 and then moved to the company sports club (BSG) Stahl Riesa. The 1.80 m tall midfielder was initially used in the 2nd team, which played in the third-rate district league. For the 1970/71 season he was accepted into the league team of BSG Stahl, in which he recommended himself as a regular player with 22 matches and three goals. It stayed that way in 1971/72, when Steuer only missed a point game and scored three goals again. His team, however, had to relegate and played in the second-rate GDR league in 1972/73 . In the immediate resurgence, Steuer was only involved with twelve of 22 point games and only one bet in the eight promotion games. In the new league season 1973/74 he finally lost his regular place in the first team, he was only used in the first half of the season in eleven league games. In the GDR league team of Stahl Riesa II, he only played three point games. 1974/75 Steuer was used in three league games, he also played with the relegated second team in the district league, which he helped to return to the GDR league. With her he played three times in the GDR league in 1975/76, but switched to GDR league club BSG Stahl Brandenburg during the season , where he played two more point games. He then returned to Stahl Riesa and played again with Riesa II in the district league. For the 1977/78 season he moved back to the 1st team, which played again in the GDR league after relegation. As in 1973, she managed to return to the league immediately, with tax playing 13 of the 22 point games, scoring three goals and also completing seven of the eight promotion games. For the season 1978/79 he was nominated for the league team and used again in ten point games at irregular intervals. After that he was finally bid farewell to Stahl Riesa. He returned to the starting point of his career and helped TSG Gröditz to rise to the GDR league in his first season in 1979/80. In the next three seasons, Steuer was a regular in midfield, he only missed seven out of 66 league games. He played his last season in competitive football in 1983/84. He was used again in seven GDR league games and then had 71 top division games with seven goals and 99 second division games with nine goals.
