Friederun Pleterski

Friederun Pleterski Tschebull (* 1948 ; nee Pemberger) is an Austrian non-fiction author and journalist from Carinthia .

Life

Pleterski is the granddaughter of the former Governor of Carinthia, Arthur Lemisch . She studied Romance languages at the University of Vienna and at DAMS with Umberto Eco in Bologna. In 1975 she did her doctorate with the Romanists Wolfgang Pollak and Hans Hinterhäuser at the University of Vienna with a semiotic analysis of the poem "Gli Orecchini" by Eugenio Montale .

Since then she has been working as a freelance journalist and book author and is a founding member of well-known associations that strive to preserve culture and nature (BIOSA, Noah's Ark). Between 1989 and 1993 she wrote regularly for the Austrian daily Kurier . For the Austrian radio she designed a. a. a post on Britain's National Trust. In 1976 her bestseller "Die Freuden des Landleben" was published by Molden Verlag, followed by "A house is more than a roof over your head" and other books on lifestyle topics by Christian Brandstätter, such as "Vom Luxus des Einfaches", in which she does that The principle of moderation and the abandonment of compulsory consumption (“less is more”) promoted. It offers instructions for a healthy, natural lifestyle. Some of her works (from the Christian Brandstätter publishing house) have been illustrated by Renate Habinger .

In 2001 she bought a house on the Croatian island of Olib , which she reports on in her books "Ein Haus in Dalmatien" (2004) and "Dalmatinisches Inselbuch" (2007) published by Carinthia / Styria. With her family saga "Heimwärts Reisen", published by Styria in 2012, she also tells the history of Carinthia in a very personal way as some family members such as Bartlmä Rauscher, Josef Buzzi, Matthias Millesi, Fanni Lemisch, Otti Huber-Knaus, Arthur Lemisch, Siegmund Knaus, Hermann Knaus and Hubert Knaus played a key role in the country's cultural and political development.

Friederun Pleterski is the widow of the Viennese photographer Roland Pleterski (who worked with Irving Penn ). Her second marriage is to the journalist Jens Tschebull and she has three grown sons. She lives in Carinthia and Olib / Croatia.
