Friedhelm Grabe (* March 25, 1931 - March 1, 2017 ) was a German politician ( SED ). From 1984 to 1990 he was Deputy Minister and State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture of the GDR .

Life

Grabe learned the trade of locksmith . He became a member of the Free German Youth (FDJ) and the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From 1952 to 1958 he was the youth club manager of the FDJ in Brandenburg an der Havel . He then studied philosophy and literature and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. From 1967 to 1982 he was a member of the Potsdam District Council and head of the culture department. At the same time he was a member of the Potsdam district assembly . He completed further studies at the Institute for Social Sciences as a graduate social scientist. From April 1982 to March 1984 he worked as 1st Deputy Director of the Palace of the Republic .

In March 1984 he was appointed Deputy Minister for Culture and in October 1987 State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. He held this position in the Modrow government until April 1990 . He then headed Division I (Human Resources, Legal Affairs, Administration) of the Ministry of Culture in the de Maizière government until September 1990 .

Grabe died at the age of 85.
