Cemetery administration

The Kairėnai Cemetery (lit. Kairėnų kapinės ) is a cemetery founded in 2001 in Kairėnai , in the eastern part of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius . The total area is 9.5 hectares. The Vilnius City Council established the cemetery . UAB "Labradoras" is the administrator of the cemetery. Sculptor Vaclovas Krutinis created several memorial tombstones ("angels", "chapel" and others). The cemetery can be reached by public transport in Vilnius ( Gvazdikų stop; bus route 38 : Antakalnis - Saulėtekis - Dvarčionys - Kairėnai - Šilėnų St.).

history

The Kairėnų cemetery was formerly managed by the "Paplaujos Monument Workshop". Due to a lack of funds, it was decided that the Kairėnai cemetery would become an investment cemetery . Almost 10 hectares of forest were chopped to develop the cemetery. UAB "Labradoras" won a competition for preparation and administration. The company was obliged to install and maintain the cemetery. It got the right to demand money for the burial places (graves) installed. Depending on the size of the area, the price is between 1500 and 2500 litas (434–724 euros). The fee is not charged for the family graves. 98% of the burial places are acquired as installed graves. 2% of the graves have been allocated free of charge. The Vilnius Municipality pays around 3,000 euros per month to the private company to run the cemetery.
