Friedrich Albert von Langenn (born January 26, 1798 in Merseburg , † December 30, 1868 in Dresden ) was a Saxon lawyer and historian.

Life

Von Langenn was born in Merseburg. He studied law from October 23, 1816 to January 22, 1820 at the University of Leipzig . Langenn was an official of the Saxon civil service and belonged to the Protestant faith. As a privy councilor, he was personally responsible as an educator for Prince Albert, who later became King Albert of Saxony. This task ended with the prince's final examination on March 13, 1845. He initially held a professorship at the University of Leipzig from 1820 to 1822 . Then von Langenn worked in the Saxon Ministry of Justice.

Court and Justice Councilor Friedrich Albert von Langenn was made an honorary citizen of the city of Leipzig in 1835 . From 1832, von Langenn was appointed "Provisional Royal Government Commissar" in order to continue the work of the previous royal commissioner Müller after the September unrest of 1830.

Langenn had also submitted a biography on Moritz von Sachsen . This could only insufficiently meet scientific requirements, since he unfortunately did not sign his copies on which his presentation was based, most of which came from the Dresden archive. This lack of an edition of the Political Correspondence that met scientific standards was remedied from Erich Brandenburg in 1901 with interruptions until 2006. Something similar can be said about his work and a. to say to Christoph von Carlowitz . In 1865 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
