Friedrich Alexander von Rothkirch

Friedrich Alexander von Rothkirch (* 1727 ; † October 1785 in Königsberg ) was a royal Prussian major general and chief of infantry regiment No. 11 .

He was the son of Balthasar Sigmund von Rothkirch († 1764) and one of Arleben called Magnus. His father was the heir to the lady and shrouds. His older brother was Lieutenant General Hans Christoph von Rothkirch .

Life

He entered the Saxon service in 1742 and joined the Regiment du Caila . He became an ensign in 1745 and a lieutenant in 1746. During the Second Silesian War he fought in the battle of Hohenfriedberg and Kesselsdorf .

During the Seven Years' War he was included with the rest of the Saxon army near Pirna . Like many others, he joined the Prussian army after the surrender. There he became a captain in regiment No. 55 (Hauss). In 1761 he became major and commander of a grenadier battalion, which was formed from four grenadier companies. It consisted of two regiments each No. 56 (Horn) and No. 54 (Plotho). After the war he continued his career and became a lieutenant colonel in 1771 and a colonel in 1772. In 1782 he was appointed major general and chief of Infantry Regiment No. 11 (Zastrow). He died unmarried in Königsberg in 1785. With him, the Sebnitz line died out.

During his time in the Prussian army, he was wounded twice. He fought at the Peenemünder Schanze , defending Kolberg and Schweidnitz . He was also able to distinguish himself in the battle of Reichenbach . He received the Pour le Mérite in 1761.
