Friedrich Anton Levin Matthaei

Friedrich Anton Levin Matthaei (* 18th February 1774 in Hannover , † around 1840 in Löwenhagen ) was a German teacher , a Protestant clergyman , writer , school book - Author and translator .

Life

Matthaei was born in the Electorate of Braunschweig-Lüneburg during the personal union between Great Britain and Hanover in 1774 in Hanover. After his training he worked as a teacher at the “Wichmann Institute” in Celle in the 18th century from 1797 . Around five years later, in 1802, he took up the position as the first teacher at the farm daughters' school in his hometown.

During the so-called " French era " in the former Electorate of Hanover, in 1807, Matthaei moved first as a pastor to Parensen and Marienstein near Göttingen, then in 1811 as a preacher to Varlose and Löwenhagen, where he also passed away around 1840.
