Friedrich Bachschmid

Friedrich Bachschmid (born February 26, 1832 in Kaufbeuren ; † July 28, 1907 in Kaufbeuren) was a Bavarian businessman and local politician.

Jakob Friedrich Bachschmid was born in Kaufbeuren in 1832 as the son of the cloth weaver and master silk weaver Philipp Jakob Bachschmid and Johanna Elisabetha Dommler. After completing a commercial apprenticeship in the "Gebrüder Heinzelmann" wholesaler, he founded a specialty and cutlery business in 1861 and was a wholesaler. From 1879–1889, at the time the new town hall was being built, he was the last mayor of Kaufbeuren to leave the wholesale business . His daughter Elise (1869–1909) was married to the racial hygienist Wilhelm Schallmayer .
