Datuk Ranjit Singh Ramday (born June 17, 1955 in Melalap , Tenom , Sabah , Malaysia ) is Brigadier General and Commander of the 5th Infantry Brigade of the Malaysian Army in Lok Kawi.

Life

Ranjit Singh Ramday was born on June 17, 1955 in Melalap , Tenom . He grew up in Kampung Kuala Kimanis , papar . He received his education first in the primary school SK St. Agnes in Kimanis, Papar and then in the secondary school SMK St. Joseph in Papar.

Military career

His interest in military service led Ranjit to the Royal Military College in November 1973 . He was 18 years old at the time.

From 1990 to 1991, Ranjit attended a 10-month military training course at the Defense Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) in Dhaka , Bangladesh , with a major .

From July 1, 1996 to December 3, 1999, Ranjit commanded the rank of Lieutenant Colonel 8th Rangers (Para), the 8th paratrooper battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment. During its service, the battalion was involved in peace operations several times. In Operation PELANDUK , the unit with more than 200 soldiers participated in the fight against the outbreak of Japanese encephalitis and the Hendra virus and organized the culling of 643,829 domestic pigs, 845 wild boars and 3785 stray dogs.

Ranjit served overseas and in 2004 participated in the UN observer mission in the Congo .

Ranjit was then head of training planning at the Army Training and Doctrine Command Headquarters (PL & DTD) in Kuala Lumpur.

On July 17, 2012, Ranjit took command of the 5th Infantry Regiment at the Lok Kawi military base from Brigadier General Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Jalal. In the 48-year history of the regiment, he is the first commander to come from Sabah.

In Operation Daulat against the Filipino terrorists during the Lahad Datu Standoff in spring 2013, Ranjit led the infantry operations.

Awards

On April 13, 2013, Ranjit was awarded the Pingat Kedaulatan Negara Medal (Medal of National Sovereignty) by Prime Minister Najib Razak for his services to Operation Daulat .

On the occasion of the 70th birthday of the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, Ranjit was awarded the Order Dato 'Paduka Mahkota Perlis (DPMP) on May 17, 2013 , which entitles him to use the title "Datuk".
