Friedrich Benedict Carpzov (born January 1, 1649 in Leipzig ; † May 20, 1699 there ) was a German lawyer , councilor and master builder .

Life

Friedrich Benedict Carpzov comes from the famous Saxon family of scholars Carpzov . He was born in Leipzig in 1649 as the sixth son of the Lutheran theologian Johann Benedikt Carpzov I. He was baptized on January 2, 1649. Like his brothers, he attended the humanistic St. Thomas School in Leipzig . From 1662 to 1665 he studied law at the University of Leipzig . In 1676 he married Anna Elisabeth Jäger. In 1679 he became councilor in Leipzig. In 1693 he was promoted to council builder. He was co-editor of the scientific journal Acta Eruditorum .
