Friedrich Bode (born November 30, 1811 in Ziegenhain ; † December 29, 1899 ) was a German medic.

Life

Bode, son of a captain in the Hessian army, studied in Heidelberg and Marburg, where he received his doctorate in medicine in 1834 . At the surgical clinic he first became an assistant doctor. He applied to the state government in Kassel for the practice as a doctor in Nauheim, which he was allowed to do on July 10, 1837. As a spa doctor , surgeon , general practitioner and obstetrician , he worked there for over 30 years and was also able to work towards opening the first pharmacy in town. In the case of the Elector, he campaigned for the establishment of larger spa houses and, together with other citizens, for the granting of city ​​rights to the place, which took place in 1854.

Bode wrote a book about the healing springs of Nauheim and their effects.

In 1867 Ludwig III. the title of Medical Councilor , conferred that of a Secret Medical Councilor in 1872 . During the Franco-German War he headed a hospital in Nauheim, for which he was awarded the Order of the Prussian Crown . On March 5, 1884, he was given honorary citizenship of Bad Nauheim .
