Friedrich Degen (physicist)
August Friedrich Ernst Degen (born June 9, 1802 in Ludwigsburg , † April 2, 1850 in Stuttgart ) was a German physicist , chemist and geologist ( Bergrat ).
Degen embarked on a higher mining career in Württemberg, for which he also studied three semesters from 1821 at the State Economics Faculty in Tübingen. From 1829 he was professor of physics and chemistry at the trade school in Stuttgart. There he also taught analytical and practical geometry.
He was a member of the Bergkollegium and since 1842 an extraordinary member of the Royal Academic Council in Stuttgart.
He published many analyzes of mineral waters in Württemberg, about networkability, an improved reflection goniometer and the behavior of coal against light.
