Friedrich Emich
Friedrich Emich (born September 5, 1860 in Graz ; † January 22, 1940 ibid) was an Austrian chemist.
Life
Friedrich Emich studied chemistry at the Imperial and Royal Technical University in Graz . There he taught inorganic and general chemistry from 1887 to 1931. He was rector for three periods . With Fritz Pregl he devoted himself to microchemistry . His daughter Fritzi (1907-2002) married the ENT doctor Werner Kindler in 1949 .
Honors
The Association of German Chemists awarded him the Liebig Memorial Medal in 1931 . The Society of Austrian Chemists awards the Friedrich Emich plaque named after him . Emich was elected to the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in 1927.
In 1931 he received the Great Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria . In 1970 the Emichgasse in Donaustadt (22nd district) was named after him. In 1990 the Austrian Post issued a special postage stamp on the 50th anniversary of his death.
