Friedrich Erdmann von Sachsen-Merseburg (born September 20, 1691 in Merseburg , † June 2, 1714 in Köthen ) from the Albertine line of the Wettins was a prince of the Saxon secondary school in Saxony-Merseburg .

Life

Friedrich Erdmann was the sixth and youngest son of Duke Christian II of Saxony-Merseburg (1653–1694) from his marriage to Erdmuth Dorothea (1661–1720), daughter of Duke Moritz of Saxony-Zeitz . His older brothers Christian III. Moritz and Moritz Wilhelm were successively dukes of Saxe-Merseburg.

He married on February 15, 1714 in Köthen Eleonore Wilhelmine (1696–1726), daughter of Prince Emanuel Leberecht von Anhalt-Köthen . On the occasion of the marriage, Friedrich Erdmann received his own court and the Finsterwalde office as appanage . While the Finsterwalde Castle there was set up for this purpose, Friedrich Erdmann surprisingly died at the age of 22. His widow married Duke Ernst August I of Saxe-Weimar . After the death of Friedrich Erdmann's brother Moritz Wilhelm, all three adult sons of Duke Christian II died without an heir, which is why their uncle Heinrich followed in the government.

Friedrich Erdmann was buried in the princely crypt of Merseburg Cathedral .
