Friedrich Faulhammer (born June 8, 1963 in Vienna ) is an Austrian lawyer . He has been Rector of Danube University Krems since 2013 .

Life

Friedrich Faulhammer studied law in Vienna, graduating with a master's degree. From 1985 to 1990 he worked at the University of Vienna at the Institute for Legal History and in the legal department of the university administration. He then moved to the Federal Ministry of Science and Research , where he headed the department for universities of applied sciences from 2001 and was involved in the implementation of the 2002 University Act as deputy section head from 2003 to 2005 . From 2005 he was head of Section I for universities and technical colleges, and in 2009 he became Secretary General of the Ministry of Science.

In February 2013, he was elected Rector of Danube University Krems by the University Council to succeed Jürgen Willer, and he took office on August 1, 2013. In September 2015 he was re-elected for a further four-year term, starting in August 2017. In November 2018 he was appointed to the board of the Ludwig Boltzmann Society . In February 2020 he was reappointed as rector by the Senate and University Council for a further four-year term from 2021 to 2025.
