Friedrich Geißler (legal scholar)

Friedrich Geißler , also: Geisler, Geissler , (born October 25, 1636 in Reussendorf near Waldenburg / Lower Silesia, † April 21, 1679 in Leipzig ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Geißler had attended the Elisabethgymnasium in Breslau and began studying at the University of Leipzig in 1659 . There he acquired a baccalaureus in 1660 and the academic degree of master's degree in philosophy in 1661 . He then completed a law degree, and in 1665 had become a baccalaureus and licentiate in law. In the same year he was accepted as a member of the great princes college . In 1667 he received his doctorate in law.

In 1670 Geissler became the fifth professor of the law faculty with the title Publ. De Verbor. Signif. et Regul juris and 1675 professor of the institutes . In addition, Geißler had also participated in the organizational tasks of the Leipzig University and was rector of the Alma Mater in the winter semester of 1674 .

On April 25, 1679 he was buried in the Paulinerkirche in Leipzig .
