Friedrich Oswald

In 1855 Friedrich Gotthold Kunze published the book Der Vorstehhund in its full value under the pseudonym "Friedrich Oswald" ; his parforce dressage without punches; his treatment in good and bad days . This extensive cynological book was the first ever dog training book and is a classic in the hunting world. It was reissued several times after 1855. Against the background of practical experience as a dog owner and hunter, the author explains the areas of rearing, training and keeping hunting dogs. In particular, the 146 individual exercises for indoor dressage, outdoor dressage and hunting can be used as the basis for any dog school and are generally valid unless they are related to hunting. From the seventh edition, this basic cynological work has a detailed veterinary part by the veterinarian M. Reuter. (In March 2012, Lightning Source UK Ltd published a reproduction of the original edition.)

In the Silesian trade journal Der Heger , 50 years after the author's death, in issue 25 of June 25, 1926, a report “On the life story of 'old Oswald'” by E. Kayser - Ohlau appeared. Almost 100 years after the first publication, the nationwide trade journal Die Pirsch once again published a detailed appraisal of "Friedrich Oswald" and his fundamental publication.
