Friedrich Gottlieb Heinrich Fielitz the Elder

Friedrich Gottlieb Heinrich Fielitz the Elder (December 1749 in Barby , † February 4, 1820 in Luckau ) was a German medic.

Life

Under the direction of his father, he initially received training as a surgeon in Dresden . He enrolls at the University of Wittenberg , where he studied medicine, where he obtained the degree of doctor of medicine. In 1773 he completed his habilitation in Luckau, became a city doctor, later a surgeon at the prison there, then in the poor house and was elected mayor there. He died there when he was appointed hospital director.

Fielitz has written several articles on surgery and obstetrics, and in popular medicine he strongly advocated preventive healthcare for children and women. He also founded an archive of the Medicinica Forensis, of which only one issue appeared. In addition, in a historical context, in 1811 he published a volume about famous people from Lusatia.

His son Friedrich Gottlieb Heinrich Fielitz the Younger and his grandson Heinrich August Fielitz were also doctors.
