Friedrich Heinrich Basse

Friedrich Heinrich Basse (born January 6, 1773 in Elze , † January 23, 1829 in Bremen ) was a German pharmacist and physicist .

life and work

Basse was the son of the senator, brewer and surgeon Johann Friedrich Basse. As a pharmacist's assistant in the council pharmacy in Hameln , he was familiar with the medical devices based on galvanic currents of his time. He has published articles on topics related to chemistry . He wrote about experiments with hydrochloric acid , about naphtha or the dissolution of phosphorus in alcohol . He also worked in the field of physics. He describes his discovery of the electrical conductivity of the earth in great detail in the Annalen der Physik in 1803. Although announced, he does not publish any further experiments . It is also not known whether he still worked as a pharmacist. In 1817 he took over a white lead factory in Bremen .
