Friedrich I von Fürstenberg (* before 1250 ; † May 1, 1296 ) was the second Count of Fürstenberg.

Life

Friedrich comes from the family of the Counts von Fürstenberg . His father Heinrich I. von Fürstenberg was the progenitor of the Fürstenberg family, his mother was Agnes von Truhendingen . After the father's death (1284), an inheritance was divided, in which his younger brother Egon received the town of Haslach in the Kinzig valley and established the Fürstenberg-Haslach sidelines.

Through his marriage to the only heiress of the Lords of Wolfach, Udelhild, Friedrich was able to expand his possessions into the valley of the Wolf and the Kinzig in 1290 . The town of Wolfach with Wolfach Castle and numerous farms in the surrounding area remained in the possession of the Fürstenbergers until 1806.
