Friedrich Janssen (theologian)

Friedrich Janssen (born May 26, 1935 in Kevelaer ) is a German Roman Catholic priest and theologian .

Life

After graduating from the Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck , Janssen studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster and as a seminarist at the Germanicum at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , where he received his doctorate in 1965 with a thesis on Thomas Aquinas .

Janssen was ordained a priest in Rome on October 10, 1961 and then worked as a chaplain in Waltrop from 1963 to 1967 and as a religion teacher in Recklinghausen from 1967 to 1971 . In 1971/72 Janssen was a research assistant in Hagen , and in 1976 he was appointed professor for Catholic theology at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Northern Germany . From 1976 until his retirement Janssen was professor for systematic theology at the University of Osnabrück and the University of Vechta . In the summer semester 2010 he gave a lecture at the University of Vechta on the subject of "Religion - Revelation - Church - Faith and Knowledge. Basic concepts of fundamental theology ”.

Janssen has been a spiritual adviser to the Diocesan Association of Münster of the Katholisches Kaufmännischer Verein ( Association of Catholics in Business and Administration ) since 1987 and has also been exercising this office at the federal level since 1990. In 1998 Janssen was made an honorary papal prelate .
