Johann Friedrich Ludwig Kausler (born January 21, 1798 in Buerger ; † August 25, 1874 in Stuttgart ) was an Oberamtmann in Württemberg.

Life

Kausler was born in Bürg as the son of Johannes Kausler (* July 21, 1754 in Oberrot near Gaildorf; † June 24, 1835 in Bürg) and his wife Friederike Dorothee, born Amos (* March 1, 1766 in Meimsheim near Brackenheim; † November 14 1802 born in Bürg). His father was a rent official, clerk and bailiff of the barons of Gemmingen . Kausler was a Protestant denomination.

Kausler attended the Latin school in Esslingen. He then studied philosophy until 1815. During his studies he was also an incipient for two years in the office and clerk's office in Neuenstadt am Kocher . In 1815 he worked in the town clerk in Leonberg and in 1816 passed the substitute examination. In 1816 he was appointed provisional actuary in Leonberg, where he worked, among other things, at the Higher Regional Court. In 1820 he was transferred as an actuary to the Neckarsulm office and in 1822 to the Stuttgart office. In 1823 he became the district administrator in Jagsthausen .

Kausler married on June 22, 1823 in Leonberg Auguste Knapp (born February 11, 1801 in Hohenheim, † October 17, 1872 in Stuttgart), the daughter of the camera administrator of Leonberg Jakob Christian Knapp (1752-1833) and his wife Regine Sophie Gottliebin Sandberger (1773-1805). Auguste Knapp was also the sister of the Württemberg Finance Minister Christian von Knapp . With her, Kausler had the following children:

  1. Robert (born April 14, 1824 in Jagsthausen, † August 12, 1849 in Lugos, southern Hungary), officer in the Hungarian army
  2. Karl Theodor (born August 28, 1825 in Jagsthausen; † May 18, 1885 in Edenkoben in the Palatinate), pharmacist in Lauterecken and Edenkoben. Karl was married four times and had six children.
  3. Paul (born June 20, 1828 in Wangen im Allgäu; † March 25, 1899 in Mannheim), businessman in Mannheim. Paul was married to Elise Theobald but had no children.
  4. Bertha Henriette Luise (born October 15, 1829 in Wangen im Allgäu, † February 16, 1896 in Stuttgart), who married the ironworks engineer Albrecht Erhardt in 1848 . She had five children with him.
  5. Eduard Friedrich (born January 13, 1832 in Rottweil; † August 24, 1874 in Cannstatt), gas chemist and engineer. He had six children from two marriages.

In 1827 Kausler was promoted to chief administrator and transferred to Wangen . In 1829 Kausler was appointed senior bailiff. He held the position of senior magistrate in various districts: first from 1829 to 1831 in Wangen, then from 1831 to 1841 in Rottweil and from 1841 to 1853 in Heidenheim . As a senior bailiff in Heidenheim, he headed a committee that was responsible for building the railway through the Brenz valley . Kausler participated in the publication of the first Heidenheim Oberamtsbeschreibung. During the revolution of 48 he showed great skill, tact and moderation. In 1853 he was transferred to Herrenberg . This was a punishment transfer for various mistakes during the revolution of 1848 from the point of view of the government at the time. One reason for the transfer was probably that he had shook hands with the democrat Karl Freisleben on the street after his return from prison. After the transfer, Kausler was Oberamtmann in Herrenberg until 1870.

In 1860 Kausler was made a knight of the Frederick Order .

Kausler retired in 1870 with the rank of government councilor and moved to Stuttgart.
