Rick Gekoski
Richard Abraham ("Rick") Gekoski (born August 25, 1944 in St. Louis ) is a British writer , publisher and dealer of rare books.
Life
Rick Gekoski grew up in Alexandria ( Virginia on), where his father Bernard as a lawyer worked as a social worker and his mother Edith. In 1954 , his family moved to Huntington . Rick Gekoski went by the year 1962 at the Huntington High School and then studied at the University of Pennsylvania , which he in 1966 with the title Bachelor graduated. He then moved to England and received a PhD in English literature from the University of Oxford . Between 1971 and 1987 he taught English at the University of Warwick , where he was temporarily chairman of the Faculty of Arts .
From the mid-1980s, Rick Gekoski began trading rare English-language books. This includes first editions , manuscripts , archival material and works of art with a literary reference. Rick Gekoski is the author of several books dealing with his favorite subjects of soccer , rare books and reading. He founded two private printing companies, The Sixth Chamber Press and, together with TG Rosenthal, The Bridgewater Press . For the British radio station BBC Radio 4 , Rick Gekoski hosted a series on the subject of bookshops and rare books entitled Rare Books as guest commentator . Rare people . In 2005 he was a jury member for the Booker Prize .
Rick Gekowski is married to Belinda Kitchin. The couple have a daughter and a son.
