Friedrich Kumme

Friedrich Kumme (born November 24, 1868 , † March 17, 1927 ) was a German army officer, most recently lieutenant general .

At the end of the First World War, Kumme served as a colonel with the German 8th Army in the Baltic States . To protect the removal of troops and material from the army returning to Germany, volunteers from the army were recruited for the so-called " Iron Brigade " from November 29, 1918 . Kumme was their first commander, but on January 16, 1919, he handed this task over to Major Josef Bischoff .

When the Reichswehr was formed on January 1, 1921 from the Reichswehr Rifle Regiment 22 and the Reichswehr Infantry Regiments 21 and 22 of the "transitional army " the 15th Infantry Regiment (Reichswehr) with regimental staff was formed in Giessen Colonel Kumme its first commander. As early as June 15, 1921, this position was replaced by Colonel Erich Wöllwarth , while he himself took up service as Infantry Leader V in Stuttgart the next day, while at the same time being promoted to Major General . He held this position until January 31, 1923; then Major General Konrad Kraehe followed him there .
