Friedrich Laux

Friedrich Laux (born March 8, 1938 in Roth near Nuremberg ) is a German prehistorian .

After Laux obtained his doctorate in 1968 with a study on the Bronze Age in the Lüneburg Heath , he worked for the Roman-Germanic Commission in Frankfurt am Main from 1969 . From 1970 to 1975 he worked at the Museum Lüneburg , and from 1976/77 at the Institute for Prehistory and Early History in Saarbrücken . From 1977 he worked at the Helms Museum in Hamburg-Harburg until his retirement in 2001 . First as a research assistant, later as curator from 1989 also as chief curator and deputy director. He also worked temporarily as a lecturer at the University of Hamburg .

In 1971, Laux named the Sögel-Wohlde-Kreis and the Lüneburg Group, and in 1987/90 the South Hanover Group , the Oldenburg-Emsland Group and the Allermündungs ​​Group as Bronze Age regional groups. Although his works on the Bronze Age are certainly his best known, he also published many articles on other epochs of prehistory and early history, including the princely graves of Marwedel .
