Friedrich Ludwig I. Truchseß von Waldburg

Friedrich Ludwig Truchseß von Waldburg (born October 13 / October 18, 1711 in Berlin ; † April 29, 1777 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general , chief of the “von Schönaich” dragoon regiment and heir to Bestendorf.

Life

origin

He was the son of Major General Karl Ludwig Truchseß von Waldburg (1685–1738) and his wife Sophie Charlotte, née von Wylich and Lottum (1694–1771).

Military career

During the Rhine campaign in 1734/35, Waldburg marched as a major with the "von Anhalt-Dessau" dragoon regiment on the Rhine . In 1739 he became lieutenant colonel and on November 22, 1741 colonel . On May 17, 1742 he fought in the battle of Chotusitz and rose to regimental commander in November 1744. In the same capacity, Waldburg commanded Dragoon Regiment No. 3 from 1746 to 1750. In 1750 he was appointed major general and became chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 3. In May 1757 he was dismissed at his own request (he was ill).

When the Swabian branch of the family died out in 1772, he tried to inherit their property, but failed. Nevertheless, his property expanded steadily. 1740 around Gut Kinoschen, 1746 around Hasenberg and Wundlacken, 1750 around Seepothen and Glautienen, 1753 around Bestendorf and 1759 around Capustigall and 1762 around Wilmsdorf.

family

Waldburg married Charlotte Sophie de la Chièze (von Chaise) (1717–1761), granddaughter of Philip de Chiese , on May 29, 1738 . The couple had the following children:

After the death of his first wife, Waldburg married Sophie Luise von Flörke (1741-1821) on April 7, 1763, with whom he had the son Heinrich Alexander Wunibald (1766-1780).

The widow married again; on March 13, 1779 the captain Friedrich Wilhelm von Bär (born August 14, 1738).
