Friedrich Müller (born May 1, 1842 in Seckenheim , † March 16, 1917 in Munich ) was a ducal Bavarian court photographer.

Life

Müller, the son of a pastor, attended grammar school in Karlsruhe and then completed an apprenticeship in bookbinding in Heidelberg . He worked in the Atelier Ratter in Mannheim before moving to Munich from 1868. He acquired his photographic skills as an autodidact . As chairman of the legal protection association of German photographers, he represented professional interests. In later years he had his permanent exhibition in Munich's Luitpold-Café at Brienner Strasse 8 and his studio at Amalienstraße 9. For 1876, an earlier studio at Kaufingerstraße 21/2 "next to Hotel Detzer" is occupied.

In 1903 Müller's son-in-law Theodor Hilsdorf took over the studio. Hilsdorf had worked for Müller since 1894. Some negatives from the estate cannot be clearly assigned to Müller or Hilsdorf. Until the 1920s, the Atelier Müller-Hilsdorf was one of the most renowned addresses for portrait photography in Munich.
